  • 18:57 I mean, if it were me, I'd just be upfront about it with the family. I mean, they're going to figure out something is up even if they won't be able to figure out exactly what. Also, the wife had been having inklings that something was wrong, like how she stopped in the middle of her run and grabbed at the place where she was impaled.

    DisthronDisthronAcum 15 ore
  • 7:25 The movie does lampshade this. The 3 cloning pods that are brought are from storage. If he brought one of the ones that were being actively used in the lab their disappearance would have been noticed right away and someone might start asking questions. Though, your point about just using one of them a second time still stands.

  • First let me preference this by acknowledging this is a shit film and Elvis is userly pretty good but this review is horrible and here's every misplaced flaw: 3:33 It's explained late in the film that the reaction is because their brain expects to have lungs and shit, you knew this when righting the script. 3:55 What? At the 6 minute mark the gay joke went from unfunny to annoying. 7:12 If he took the main ones he would 100% get caught, the reason he went unnoticed is because he took spares which has it's own drawbacks but I digress. 7:42 having a higher position doesn't mean he's intrinsically smarter 8:50 It's a entire human mind, this isn't even close to a terabyte this is millions times larger, the fact it's capable of being held in one hand is incredible. 8:55 you mean how cars got sma- oh wait they didn't because science isn't just things getting smaller infinitely. 9:44 science is not a straight line, now days we have computers capable of transferring sounds live so fast and with such detail that 2 people can have a normal conversation and bombs that can destroy entire country's for hundreds of years to come but we can't get 120 frame per second on Xbox because just because we can do one thing doesn't mean we can do all things 10:00 It's science fiction, it's beyond littraly everyone on earth or there just wouldn't be a point. And there trying to bring people back to life in robot body's that's the point, that's their job, they already know how to put the mind's of live people in other body's, if they didn't then Keanu wouldn't be ale to bring his family back. 11:22 she probably did but didn't get any response so went to investigate 11:36 because ed isn't a encyclopaedia of everything about Keanu and his family. 12:27 why would you think they never age? When did the movie say that because it definitely isn't how that works irl 14:02 That's a psychology issue not a neuroscience issue 18:27 she would 100% object to that 19:51 It's the future, culture could have changed, it's wired but not a plot contrivance like you act it is 20:28 because neuroscientists cant ever be bad in social conditions. This is like complaining that doctors have bad hand righting because their smart and only illiterate have bad hand righting 20:55 it's probably wireless and automatic because it's, ya know the future. 21:02 because people who just saw their entire family's die in front of them are known for good decision making. That said their isn't a good criticism here, if his job is to quickly bring people back to life were every second someone is dead then his inability to work under pressure would be really bad but you don't bring this up 25:14 why use him specifically? He already knows too much and has to be killed and the family members have so much use, the knolege that could be gained from each an everyone of them is limitless. 26:19 wait if you knew that then why complain about the lack of restraints earlier? 20:51 It's just a continuation of Keanu's mind, why would it have to stop and think about random shit for a few minute's? 27:11 If Keanu is some super smart neuroscientist who knows all about ho every neuron intersects with each other why would he believe is stuff like spirituality and souls? And presumably he doesn't care about wether or not something is a copy because if he did he wouldn't copy his family because it wouldn't be his family right? And he just spent quite some time uploading his brain he could presumptively prepare himself for this fact 28:26 It's already been established that Keanu can retroactively edit memorys 28:44 when did the movie ever state that? Like ever? Thats just a baseless assumption.

  • For sci-fi, I think it's perfectly acceptable to nitpick the "common sense" ideas. You need that baseline *science* to suspend your disbelief for the areas that are *fiction.* Using this film as an example, Elvis was right to have a weird gut feeling about cloning a 7 hour old corpse. The brain only lasts mere minutes without oxygen before irreparable damage occurs. This is a fact the general public knows thanks to so many popular hospital/medical dramas and heart attacks being such common killers in real life. Literally all this film had to do was write an excuse that keeps the donors' brains alive long enough for the cloning. And what do you know, that would also roll into a better plot device to explain why Zoe couldn't be cloned right away! ("The life support system is faulty! We have to pull the plug on one of your family members, or it'll short circuit and we lose them all!!!" Boom, done. It's a bit derivative, but not as laughably bad).

  • This is so weird, I actually enjoyed this movie, the concept is not real so why should all that points you mentioned be such a big deal e.g everything on a clones body should be erased like the wife’s earrings. Honestly the movie was actually fun to watch, and keanu’s character didn’t even come off as smart and perfect, his character felt to me as a crazy scientist

Or she didn’t wonder why she had the body of a woman that hadn’t carried 3 children, how did Hi Kenuo think his “grounded” lie would work who grounds children from school? How would he get the family to play along when they can’t remember any of these flus or harsh “i was locked in my bedroom for 3 weeks” events

  • A better draft for this movie script should have gone like this: Act 1: we're close to getting mind uploads into robot bodies working, but something about it just doesn't work Act 2: eureka! we figured it out and now it works. it doesn't matter what the problem was or how it was solved. robots are cool Act 3: something seems strange about the robots we uploaded people into. somebody died under mysterious circumstances in the lab. are they going crazy inside those robot brains? Act 4: oh no, it was evil corporation reprogramming the robot people to do secret evil things and now keanu is mortally wounded after evil boss revealed his plan and left keanu for dead Act 5: keanu uploaded himself into a robot and overrode the evil corporation programs to free the robots and now they fight their way to freedom through waves of corporate security forces for an action-packed finale Alternatively: Act 1: we're close to unlocking the secrets of immortality through cloning and mind-duplication but there's a bunch of ethical dilemmas holding us back. also spend time with the lead researcher's family and have lots of sincere human moments with them. This is a story about people and we need to care about the people in the story. lead researcher takes a mind scan of his baby girl as part of explaining to her about what he's working on Act 2: little girl dies of tragic accident or surprise cancer or whatever. overcome with grief, lead researcher secretly clones his daughter and puts that copy of her mind in the clone body Act 3: The family knows she's a clone and things are tense around her, but she has no idea what's wrong. lots of scenes where other family members are creeped out because they're trying to reconcile their grief with a living, breathing copy of their lost loved one walking around like nothing happened. also maybe she's not a perfect copy? maybe she's like super smart now or her personality and interests are just a little bit different now. Act 4: evil corporation finds out what lead researcher did and says they "own" little girl and want to lock her up in a secret lab, and lead researcher has to rally his family to protect her which they can all get behind because maybe she's not exactly who she was before but she's still a person and needs their help Act 5: idk... family goes public about the clone and do like a courtroom thing to win the clone girl legal personhood or something?

  • I just realized something that would make this movie a lot better. What if Keanu and his wife survived, but the kids were the ones who died? That way, Keanu would have someone to bounce his trauma and thoughts off of and both of them could try to come to terms together with having copies of their kids as opposed to their real kids. (Killing off the mom only and having the kids and Keanu come to terms with having a copy of their wife/mother would probably make for a better story, but finding good child actors is hard, so I don't see that one happening)

Consciousness isn't a physical thing you can transplant or erase, we don't even know what consciousness is. It would obviously be way easier to erase someone's memory than to transplant a human consciousness into a fucking robot ELVIS wtf

    AntonioAntonioAcum lună
  • IDK about that whole "the consciousness hard drives are too big" thing at 8:50. I mean it is a human consciousness were talking about here, a lot of information. Those hard drives are probably too small actually. And the world isn't even that advanced, houses and cars and clothing and everything is the same, it's just the cloning and consciousness transplant technology that's advanced.
